Former WWE United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura is set to miss the biggest show of the year, WrestleMania 41. Last Friday on WWE SmackDown, Nakamura defended his United States title against LA Knight.
The match saw LA Knight emerge victorious, capturing the championship for the second time in his career. Following Shinsuke Nakamura’s loss, surprising speculation about his WWE future emerged. Rumors suggested that Nakamura might leave WWE when his contract expires, with many believing he could return to New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
However, Fightful Select dismissed these rumors after reaching out to WWE sources, who confirmed there was no credibility to the speculation. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer also stated that WWE denied any plans for Nakamura’s departure.
Meltzer stated, “When that story first broke, I immediately contacted WWE, and they immediately got back to me. The story they said was false was that Nakamura was leaving. I did ask later what that [Nakamura’s] last match, is he not going to be used until his contract expires and I did not get an answer yet on that.” [H/T: TJR Wrestling]
With his WWE status clarified, a major update has now surfaced regarding WrestleMania 41. Reports indicate that Nakamura is not scheduled to compete at the grandest stage of them all in Las Vegas.
Reports confirm Shinsuke Nakamura’s WWE WrestleMania 41 status
On the latest edition of Sportskeeda WrestleBinge WrestleVotes, an update was shared on Shinsuke Nakamura’s status for WrestleMania 41. It was noted that Nakamura could be off WWE TV for a few weeks, which might result in him missing WrestleMania 41 due to the lack of build-up for his involvement.
Despite Shinsuke Nakamura not being involved in WrestleMania 41, there are no indications that he will be leaving the promotion. With Nakamura potentially off TV and missing the biggest show of the year, it remains to be seen when he will make his return.
