Ricky Starks Addresses WWE NXT Name Change to ‘Ricky Saints’

The latest edition of WWE NXT saw former AEW star Ricky Starks’ new name revealed as Ricky Saints. Saints made his debut last week on WWE NXT, creating a huge buzz in the world of professional wrestling.

His shocking debut came just days after reports claimed AEW had released him. However, Starks wasted no time making an impact in WWE NXT. Following his appearance, WWE NXT commentators acknowledged his presence but avoided mentioning his name.

On commentary, Vic Joseph remarked, “We know who that is. Everyone wants to be part of NXT.” The latest edition of WWE NXT also featured the official contract signing of Ricky Starks, alongside General Manager Ava.

However, the segment also featured interruptions from Ethan Page, Je’Von Evans, and Wes Lee. After a tense exchange with Lee, Starks signed his WWE NXT contract. When the camera zoomed in, the contract displayed his new name: Ricky Saints.

Fans have reacted with mixed opinions about the name change, and Ricky Starks has finally addressed it, confirming his new identity as Ricky Saints and explaining why it’s so personal to him.

Ricky Saints appeared on Busted Open Radio following WWE NXT, where he addressed the reactions to his name change. He stated, “It’s as close as you’re going to get to Starks. I like the name. I know a lot of people are going to be… it’s going to take time for them to get used to it. I respect that they care so deeply about me that they rebel against the name change.”

He continued, “But at the same time, I am a product of New Orleans, first and foremost, and I want to pay respect to that as well. I think this is the best of both worlds and that means a lot to me. Obviously, I think it’s cool to have a piece of home with me. And the person doesn’t change. I’m still that guy, so it is what it is.” [H/T: f4wonline]

Saints highlighted that his new name honors his New Orleans roots while preserving his in-ring identity. He is set to compete next week on WWE NXT, teaming up with Je’Von Evans to face Ethan Page and Wes Lee.
