WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray suggests that Blair Davenport’s recent release may be connected to her ex-boyfriend, AEW star Will Ospreay. Over the weekend, WWE released several wrestlers, including The Good Brothers, Sonya Deville, AOP, Paul Ellering, Isla Dawn, Cedric Alexander, Giovanni Vinci, and Blair Davenport.
Following Davenport’s release, reports indicated that WWE had plans for her. She was set to join Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green and Piper Niven. A few weeks ago, WWE teased this addition when they showed Davenport speaking with Niven backstage.
However, WWE scrapped those plans and released Davenport instead. Now, Bully Ray speculates that Ospreay’s past remarks about Triple H and Stephanie McMahon could be linked to her departure.
In 2023, Will Ospreay became one of the most sought-after free agents, with both major wrestling promotions competing for him. AEW’s Tony Khan ultimately secured the British wrestler. After failing to sign Ospreay, Triple H appeared to take a shot at him in April 2024. He stated that talent unwilling to grind had no place in the industry.
Many fans assumed Triple H was targeting Will Ospreay with his comments. In response, Ospreay fired back at WWE’s Chief Content Officer, claiming that Triple H only earned his position in WWE by “grinding on the boss’ daughter,” referring to Vince and Stephanie McMahon.
Bully Ray suggests Will Ospreay remarks led to Blair Davenport’s WWE departure
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray suggested that WWE may have released Blair Davenport as a consequence of Will Ospreay’s remarks. He pointed out that personal connections can sometimes lead to professional repercussions.
Bully Ray strongly believed that Ospreay’s comments could have influenced WWE’s decision, stating: “Sure it would, absolutely it would, without a doubt. Whether or not they’re together, I don’t know—they could’ve been together at one time. But yes, it absolutely would have something to do with it. Don’t kid yourself. Ospreay and Davenport were in a long-term relationship but broke up years ago. Ospreay is now dating fellow wrestler Alex Windsor, while Davenport is married to wrestler Josh Terry.
