Former AEW star Penta El Zero Miedo underwent a major change after joining WWE in early 2025. He made his debut as a singles competitor, stepping into the spotlight without his tag team partner and brother, Rey Fenix.
Penta and Rey, known as The Lucha Brothers, formed a dynamic tag team famous for their blend of high-flying moves and hard-hitting wrestling. The duo has competed in PWG, MLW, AEW, TNA, and Lucha Underground.
While fans expected both stars to join WWE together, only Penta made the move after AEW extended Fenix’s contract through 2025 due to an injury. Penta El Zero Miedo officially parted ways with AEW when his contract expired in December.
The extension of Rey’s deal, despite his limited AEW TV appearances, led him to express his frustration with the promotion’s treatment via Twitter. Rey Fenix’s situation with AEW has sparked controversy, with reports claiming he has been attempting to get released from the company.
Meanwhile, Penta made his WWE debut on the second episode of WWE Raw on Netflix, where he had an impressive match against Chad Gable. Recently, Penta spoke about adjusting to WWE as a singles competitor without his brother by his side.
Penta reflects on his WWE debut without AEW Star Rey Fenix by his side
During an interview with SHAK Wrestling, Penta discussed joining WWE without his brother Rey Fenix. He explained that he feels comfortable in the ring, as his style as a solo competitor is more aggressive and intense.
Penta stated: “I’m very comfortable because Penta myself in the ring is more aggressive, more violent, more different style around the world. But when my brother is with me with the tag team, it’s different, more dynamic, more special, more high-flyer. This is the difference, but I feel comfortable with both.”
Since his arrival, Penta El Zero Miedo has made a significant impact on the WWE roster. This past weekend, he also delivered an impressive performance in the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble.
