While WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes retained his title, he lost to this superstar in merchandise sales at Royal Rumble 2025. The superstar in question is the 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, John Cena.
John Cena, who is on his retirement tour, competed in his first match on his retirement tour in the Men’s Royal Rumble. In the match, he entered at number 23, eliminating Finn Balor, Braun Strowman, and Logan Paul. Cena was able to survive until the end of the match.
He lasted until the final two, standing alongside Jey Uso. In the final moments, Cena tried to hit the Attitude Adjustment on Jey. However, Jey evaded the move, pushed Cena off the apron, and claimed victory.
Although Cena was shocked by his loss, he showed respect to Jey Uso by raising his hand and embracing him. Nevertheless, he earned a major victory in the merchandise department, surpassing the current WWE face, Cody Rhodes.
John Cena surpassed Cody Rhodes in merchandise sales at WWE Royal Rumble 2025
Fightful Select reports that Fanatics and WWE revealed John Cena led merchandise sales for talent during Royal Rumble. The report confirmed that the WWE and Rumble-branded items, such as t-shirts and title belts, were the top sellers. This led to Cena’s merchandise sales clinching the first spot. Cody Rhodes’, on the other hand, slipped to second place.
Cody Rhodes, who has been the top merchandise seller for the past few years, was surpassed by John Cena. The report also mentioned that Jey Uso ranked third on the list. His merchandise sales skyrocketed after his victory.
In the women’s division, Nikki Bella and Alexa Bliss dominated merchandise sales, especially after making their return. Despite Charlotte Flair’s return after a year and her victory in the Women’s Royal Rumble match, Bella and Bliss performed well in WWE’s women’s merchandise sales.
