Triple H Makes a Tough WWE Call — Superstar Released

Triple H, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, has excelled in his role over the past few years, taking the promotion to new heights. He stepped into the position after Vince McMahon stepped down from WWE.

In early 2024, Vince McMahon had to leave the board and sell his remaining shares following accusations of sexual misconduct from former employee Janel Grant. This led to Triple H taking over creative control. Since then, he has transformed WWE, improving storylines, boosting ratings, and increasing fan attendance at events.

Despite these positive changes, The Game has also had to make some tough calls in his position. Recent reports reveal that Triple H played a key role in WWE’s decision to release Duke Hudson.

Fightful Select reported that WWE had released Duke Hudson, and his name was removed from NXT’s internal roster in mid-January. He had not appeared on the black-and-gold brand since the Chase U split. While it’s a tough time for Hudson, reports have revealed why Triple H made the decision to release him from WWE.

Duke Hudson let go after Triple H didn’t see him as a main roster star

Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer provided insight into Duke Hudson’s release from WWE. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer explained that Triple H ultimately made the decision to let Hudson go.

He statedhttps://www.f4wonline.com/podcasts/wrestling-observer-radio/wor-raw-alexa-bliss-drew-mcintyre-duke-hudson/:

“Now, of course, Vince is gone, so it doesn’t matter, but you know, [Paul ‘Triple H’] Levesque is the one who makes the calls, and for whatever reason, you know, he didn’t see Duke as a main roster guy. So at some point, when you’re 34, and you don’t see him as a main roster guy, and he’d been there for six years, it’s kind of like that’s the way it works.” [H/T: PWMania]

Duke Hudson signed with WWE in early 2019 and spent most of his time in NXT, gaining popularity in late 2022 with Chase U. Hudson’s last appearance was at an NXT live event in November 2023.
