Triple H has addressed John Cena’s announcement following his loss in the 2025 Men’s WWE Royal Rumble match. Cena reached the final two alongside Jey Uso, but ultimately, Uso emerged victorious, eliminating Cena in the final moments to claim his first-ever Royal Rumble win.
Despite starting his retirement tour, Cena’s failure to win the Rumble has put him in a tough spot. After the loss, Cena shared his next steps in a post-show interview. He announced that he would compete in the Elimination Chamber match, stating that his goal was to win a 17th championship and main event WrestleMania. Cena expressed that after 23 years with WWE, he felt his opportunity was earned.
He stated, “I told Toronto when I announced my retirement that I was grateful and that I would be back to kick ass. It’s time to walk that talk and be who I say I am. I am going to the Elimination Chamber to win. And I am going to main event my final appearance at WrestleMania, and win a 17th championship, because that’s what’s best for business, and I say that because it’s not best for my ego, it’s not best for my business, I have built my existence here off of hard work, loyalty to this company, and respect for all its branches, I will win 17 not for me, I will win 17 to some day shake the hand of the person who wins 18. Thank you very much.” [H/T: 411mania]

Triple H clears the air on John Cena’s WWE Elimination Chamber match spot
In the post-show interview following WWE Royal Rumble 2025, Triple H addressed John Cena’s announcement about participating in the Elimination Chamber. He acknowledges Cena’s dedication to the fans and his drive to win the championship once more.
He stated, “Because at the end of the day, it’s my decision, John has absolutely, 1000% earned the right to call the shot, so if he wants to be in the Elimination Chamber, he does not need to qualify, he does not need to ask, he does not need to say anything more to me than what he said right before he walked out here, which is, ‘I wanna be in the Elimination Chamber.”
The Game continued, “So he is going to now put everything he has into paying back for everybody that watched him, by becoming champion one more time, not for him, not because he needs it to seal his legacy, not because he needs it to prove who John Cena is, but because he wants to give it back to everybody who watched him for all these years, with that kind of motivation, I find it hard to think that John will fail. So he will be at the Elimination Chamber.” [H/T: 411mania]
