Why AEW Women’s Champion Mariah May Slammed Former Champion Jamie Hayter

AEW Women’s Champion Mariah May, who is getting ready to face Toni Storm, recently criticized former champion Jamie Hayter. May will defend her title against Storm at AEW Grand Slam Australia.

In December, Toni Storm returned to AEW with a big surprise. Fans expected to see “Timeless” Toni Storm, but she shocked everyone by bringing back her old rockstar persona. This version of Storm seems to have forgotten her AEW past and thinks she is debuting all over again.

Toni Storm has not faced Mariah May since AEW All In 2024. However, a few weeks ago on AEW Dynamite: Maximum Carnage, Storm won the Casino Gauntlet, earning a shot at May’s title at AEW Grand Slam Australia on February 15. While May focuses on Storm, she also takes the chance to criticize Jamie Hayter and explain why she will not be facing her.

AEW star Mariah May calls out Jamie Hayter for her orange hair look

Former Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter, who made her return after a year at AEW All In 2024, shocked fans with a new look. She introduced her new orange hair, which surprised many. As Hayter gradually climbed the ranks in the women’s division, Mariah May recently shared her thoughts on the change.

Speaking on Going Ringside, May criticized Jamie’s new look and suggested she should return to her original style. May stated, “Jamie Hayter’s come back with this new look and this orange hair, and if I can be honest, can I be honest with you? I hate it, I think it’s awful. I loved Jamie Hayter before I came to AEW, and when I came here, she got weird and she wears orange and stuff.” [H/T: Fightful]

The Superstar further added, “If she wants to come back with cool black hair and silver and wrestle me for this, any day of the week. But while she’s got the orange thing going on, I’m not, I can’t, I don’t want to look at her.” [H/T: Fightful]

With Jamie Hayter climbing the ranks, many wonder whether she will earn an opportunity for the AEW Women’s Championship.
