Dakota Kai Opens Up After Heartbreaking Loss on WWE RAW

The latest edition of WWE RAW on Netflix saw the finals of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship tournament, featuring Dakota Kai and Lyra Valkyria. WWE had originally scheduled the match for last week’s RAW Netflix premiere.

However, WWE decided to move the match between Dakota Kai and Lyra Valkyria, which would have crowned the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Champion. The reason behind it was to avoid overshadowing other high-profile matches already planned for the premiere night.

The promotion wanted to give the Women’s Intercontinental Championship the attention it deserved. In this latest edition of WWE RAW, the second installment on Netflix, Lyra Valkyria defeated Dakota Kai to become the first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion. Despite battling valiantly throughout the tournament, Kai faced a devastating loss.

She then took to X to break her silence, writing, “It may not have been my night, but if anything, my journey proves this isn’t over. With my whole heart, thank you, ILY forever.” However, Kai did not stop there. She also sent a message to the newly crowned Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Lyra Valkyria.

Dakota Kai sends a message to new champion Lyra Valkyria following WWE RAW

The new Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Lyra Valkyria, received a message from her opponent following WWE RAW. Dakota Kai congratulated Valkyria on her victory, praising her as a “beast” and a “bird lady.”

The new era in the women’s division began with the introduction of the Women’s US and Intercontinental titles. WWE now has the opportunity to give more chances to women wrestlers who have often been overlooked in the shuffle of the large roster.

With Chelsea Green as the US Champion and Lyra Valkyria as the Women’s Intercontinental Champion, the women’s division is expanding. This move could also open the door for WWE to bring back the Women’s Evolution Premium Live Event, which featured only women’s matches in 2018. Since then, there has not been another all-women’s Premium Live Event.
