WWE delivered a thrilling Saturday Night’s Main Event at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York, on December 14, 2024, drawing 2.3 million viewers across NBC and Peacock, making it a massive success.
The show featured six matches, including Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan successfully defending her title against Iyo Sky. Drew McIntyre defeated Sami Zayn in a grudge match. A historic moment took place as the inaugural Women’s U.S. Championship was crowned.
The match saw Chelsea Green triumph over Michin to become the first-ever Women’s U.S. Champion. On the other hand, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther retained his title in a triple threat match against Damian Priest and Finn Balor.
The main event of the show saw Cody Rhodes bringing back the iconic Winged Eagle WWE Championship. He defeated Kevin Owens to retain his title. This heated rivalry will finally reach its climax at the Royal Rumble, where the WWE title and the Winged Eagle Championship will hang above the ring in a ladder match.
The iconic Saturday Night’s Main Event returned with overwhelming success after years of absence. The promotion has already announced the next show, set for January 25, 2025, at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event set for May & July
In the United States, WWE programming is available on various platforms. RAW will be exclusive to Netflix, while WWE SmackDown is on USA Network, with next-day episodes streaming on Peacock. WWE NXT airs on The CW Network, and all premium live events like WrestleMania and SummerSlam will stream live on Peacock.
WWE and Netflix’s partnership has transitioned all programs to the streaming giant since the beginning of 2025 in most countries. The shift in the U.S. will occur in the first half of 2026. Meanwhile, Peacock will remain WWE’s home in the U.S.
PWInsider reports that Peacock has listed the next WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event will return on Jan 25, May 24, and July 12. While the venues for the May and July shows are still unknown, it will be interesting to see the match cards for these events. Both shows will take place after WrestleMania 41.
