Former AEW World Champion MJF defeated his former best friend Adam Cole this past weekend at Worlds End. At AEW Worlds End, MJF successfully defended his Dynamite Diamond Ring for the fifth consecutive year.
Cole, who had spent months pursuing a match with MJF, finally got his opportunity after winning the AEW Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale. He also defeated Kyle O’Reilly, who had been eager to face MJF as well. However, Cole defeated O’Reilly at AEW Dynamite Winter Is Coming.
Cole then sought revenge on his former best friend at AEW Worlds End. During their match, MJF distracted the referee and arranged for the removal of Cole’s teammates, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett, from ringside. He grabbed the Dynamite Diamond Ring to attack Cole, but the latter countered the move with a superkick. However, MJF quickly countered with a low blow and a Heatseeker to claim victory.
Despite Cole having the support of his Undisputed Kingdom teammates, MJF secured the win. Now, on the latest edition of AEW Dynamite, he announced his intention to pursue the top prize in the promotion.
MJF sets his sights on reclaiming the AEW World title
On the latest edition of AEW Dynamite, a clip aired showing MJF speaking after his victory over Adam Cole. With blood on his face, he reflected on his win and made it clear he was finished with Cole. He then declared his intentions to go after AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. He made a bold statement, saying, “I don’t care if Jon Moxley wants to burn AEW to the ground.”
He ended the promo by claiming that Moxley could call himself “a king,” but he was nothing compared to MJF, who saw himself as “a god.” MJF, who lost the AEW World Championship last year at Worlds End to Samoa Joe, went on hiatus after the defeat and never received a rematch for the title. Now, with Maxwell putting the chapter with Adam Cole behind him, he has made it clear that he is targeting Jon Moxley’s AEW World Championship.
