Who Reached Out to The Undertaker for a WWE WrestleMania 40 Appearance?

At WWE WrestleMania 40, The Undertaker shocked the fans at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The main event match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 is considered one of the greatest WrestleMania main events ever.

The match between Reigns and Rhodes wasn’t the only impressive moment. Fans were also surprised by the appearance of The Rock, John Cena, Seth Rollins, and The Undertaker. The WWE Hall of Famer appeared in the final moments, helping Cody Rhodes to defeat Roman Reigns. As chaos unfolded in the match with The Usos, Solo Sikoa, The Rock, John Cena, and Seth Rollins interfered. Rhodes found support at the crucial moment.

The Rock was about to attack Cody Rhodes with his belt when the iconic gong echoed through the stadium, causing a huge reaction from the fans. The Deadman appeared behind The Final Boss and delivered a chokeslam.

While The Undertaker’s appearance was one of the biggest shocks. WWE had already teased John Cena’s potential involvement in the weeks leading up to the event. The Undertaker, who retired in 2020, made his first in-ring appearance since then. Recently WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Triple H, revealed it was The Rock who called The Undertaker to convince him for a surprise appearance at the show.

In an interview on the Roommates Show, Triple H discussed his favorite WrestleMania entrances, mentioning WrestleMania 30, 31, and 33 as his top picks. He also talked about other wrestlers’ entrances, bringing up The Undertaker.

When the interviewer brought up his surprise appearance at WrestleMania 40. Triple H revealed how he convinced The Undertaker to appear. He shared, “When I first called him about it, he was unsure and said, ‘I don’t know, I don’t think I want to do it.’ I told him, ‘Dude, 80,000 people are going to go absolutely insane!’ It took a bit, but eventually, The Rock called him, and everyone had to reach out to get him.”

Originally, WWE wanted Stone Cold Steve Austin to make a surprise appearance at WrestleMania 40 in The Undertaker’s spot. However, the plan for him fell apart just weeks before the show.
