Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens’ rivalry escalated further following WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. Now, reports are indicating that WWE is planning another match between the two.
The tension between them began in August when Cody Rhodes challenged Kevin Owens to a match at the WWE Bash in Berlin. Despite believing he had not earned the right to face Rhodes for the WWE Undisputed Title, Owens accepted the challenge out of respect for their friendship.
At Bash in Berlin, Rhodes defeated Owens to retain his title. However, their relationship soured when Rhodes teamed up with Roman Reigns at WWE Bad Blood. Rhodes and Reigns joined forces to take on Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu, a decision that left Owens furious.
Following Bad Blood, Owens’ frustration boiled over as he attacked Rhodes backstage after the show went off the air. Their feud intensified when Randy Orton stepped in to mediate. Owens, still furious, delivered a piledriver to Orton, putting him out of action.
This conflict led to another showdown between Rhodes and Owens at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Despite failing to defeat Rhodes again, Owens sent a brutal message by hitting Rhodes with a piledriver after the match, leaving him stretchered out of the arena. With their rivalry gaining momentum, reports have now confirmed that WWE is planning another match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens.
Where is WWE planning the next match between Cody Rhodes & Kevin Owens?
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE is planning another match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens. Meltzer revealed that the possible destination for their third showdown could either be RAW’s debut episode on Netflix or the Royal Rumble 2025.
However, WWE has already announced two major matches for RAW’s debut episode on Netflix: Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa and CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins. With the debut episode already stacked with a massive card, it seems more likely that the promotion could schedule the match for Royal Rumble 2025 on February 1.
