Logan Paul, the former WWE United States Champion, recently announced his retirement from professional wrestling. At WWE SummerSlam, Paul defended his United States Championship against LA Knight.
He won the WWE United States Championship by defeating Rey Mysterio at Crown Jewel in 2023. He held the title for 279 days, becoming the third-longest reigning US Champion in WWE history.
However, he lost the title to LA Knight at SummerSlam. Before that, Paul had only defended the United States Championship twice, which sparked criticism from fans. He successfully defended the title against Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble and in a triple-threat match against Kevin Owens and Randy Orton at WrestleMania 40, before ultimately losing the championship.
Since losing the United States Championship, Logan Paul has not been seen on WWE programming. Amidst this, Paul recently announced on his Impaulsive podcast that he has retired from the world of professional wrestling.
Why did Logan Paul decide to retire from WWE?
On the latest episode of Impaulsive, Logan Paul discussed his WWE experience. He shared that WrestleMania 41 will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas next year, describing it as a “crazy event.”
However, when talking about returning in time for WrestleMania 41, Logan Paul confirmed that he has retired and is taking time off to focus on being a father. In September, he and his fiancée, Nina Agdal, welcomed a baby girl.
This statement may surprise fans, especially considering his status as a former United States Champion. Nevertheless, it seems he is generating buzz before he returns to WWE. Given his high-level performances in WWE, it appears he may be stirring up excitement.
A few weeks ago, Paul revealed that he participated in WWE and Netflix’s recent media shoot while filming content for Netflix. He mentioned that putting on the ring gear “felt good.” It seems that Paul’s retirement statement might just be a tactic to create buzz.
