WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther dropped a huge tease about his next potential opponent on RAW. The Ring General is currently in a feud with Damian Priest and the leader of The Judgment Day, Finn Balor.
The conflict began at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames during his match against Damian Priest for the World Title. Though Gunther secured the victory, he showed frustration when Finn Balor interfered.
The Ring General responded by kicking Balor in the face at Survivor Series: WarGames. On last week’s WWE RAW, Gunther faced Dominik Mysterio and emerged victorious. However, after the match, Balor attacked the champion, delivering three Coup de Graces. This set up their clash at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
On the latest edition of WWE RAW, another twist unfolded when it was announced that Gunther would face both Finn Balor and Damian Priest. The chaos started when Gunther addressed Balor, only to be attacked by Balor and his faction, The Judgment Day. As Damian Priest appeared to take out Balor, he was attacked by Gunther.
With the numbers on their side, The Judgment Day took down both Priest and Gunther. Balor stood tall with his faction, holding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Following this, WWE announced that Gunther’s match at Saturday Night’s Main Event would be a triple threat. Amid the chaos, Gunther seemed to hint at his next opponent.
Gunther drops hints: Who’s his next opponent?
During the opening segment between WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther and Finn Balor, who was accompanied by The Judgment Day, the Ring General made a pointed remark toward Balor. He criticized Balor for aligning with a group of “weirdos” and for playing second fiddle to Damian Priest.
He stated, “Eight years ago, you were the best in the world, for one night. I am the best in the world today, and for thousands of days to come.” By positioning himself as the best in the world, Gunther strongly hints at his next possible rivalry with a certain superstar who also claims that title — CM Punk.
With the Ring General teasing CM Punk as his next opponent, it is only a matter of time before the Best in the World confronts the World Heavyweight Champion.
