16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena is preparing for his retirement tour, which will kick off in 2025. Cena has had an impressive career spanning more than two decades. He is set to hang up his boots next year.
Cena announced his retirement during WWE Money in the Bank in July. He revealed that 2025 will mark his final year as an active in-ring competitor. Throughout the year, he plans to embark on a tour, making 30-40 appearances from January to December.
Over the years of his career, he has had rivalries with top stars. The list includes Randy Orton, Edge, Triple H, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, The Rock, and more.
Recently, CM Punk reflected on what it would mean to face Cena one last time. Both Cena and Punk have a long history since their iconic 2011 Money in the Bank match, where Punk defeated Cena to capture the WWE Championship. Their series of face-offs in 2011 and 2012 remain some of the most memorable matches in the promotion.
CM Punk says he’d love to face John Cena in his retirement tour
During an appearance on Peter Rosenberg’s Cheap Heat podcast, CM Punk was asked about potential opponents he would like to face in the ring. Punk named several stars, including Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.
When Rosenberg brought up John Cena, Punk acknowledged Cena’s success and ability to make his own decisions for his retirement. He did mention that he would love to face him in the ring for one more time.
CM Punk said, “Another guy that I don’t want to talk about because he’s going to do his own thing. And if I’m a part of that, what a fortunate career I’ve had. But John [Cena] deserves everything that he wants. I mean, he calls his own shots, is basically what I’m saying. But yeah, I’d love to get hands on him too.”
With 2025 just one month away, fans are buzzing with excitement as they prepare for John Cena’s retirement tour to kick off. It was recently announced that Cena will appear on the debut episode of WWE RAW on Netflix on January 6, 2025.
