Former WWE Women’s World Champion Becky Lynch has finally addressed the retirement speculation. Lynch has remained absent from WWE programming for almost six months.
On the May 27 episode of RAW, Lynch challenged Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship in a steel cage match. Despite a strong performance, Lynch fell short against Morgan. This is after Dominik Mysterio and The Judgment Day interfered, with Braun Strowman also getting involved in the mix.
During the match, Strowman charged at The Judgment Day, accidentally sending Dominik Mysterio into the cage door. The impact swung the door into Lynch’s face just as she was about to escape. The blow sent her back into the ring, giving Morgan the chance to crawl out of the cage and retain her title.
Following the loss, it was reported that Becky Lynch’s contract with WWE had expired. Lynch also posted a cryptic message after the loss, which fueled her retirement speculation. Liv Morgan has also claimed on multiple occasions that she has retired Lynch from wrestling. After months of silence, Lynch has finally spoken out, shutting down the retirement rumors and setting the record straight.
Becky Lynch gives an update on her WWE return
WWE Superstar Becky Lynch recently appeared at the Vulture Festival 2024, where she addressed questions about her future with the promotion. She dismissed the speculation that her career would end in an unsatisfactory way. However, she acknowledged that she is unsure when her wrestling comeback will happen.
Lynch said, “I’ve been working on some other stuff that I can’t really talk about. If you think the way that I’m going to go out, after the career that I’ve had, is with Dominik Mysterio slamming a door in my face, well that’s probably not going to happen.”
When asked about her return, Lynch stated, “When will that comeback (be)? I don’t know. I don’t know. I’ve really been enjoying myself and working on some projects that I’m very excited about… We will see what the future holds.”
So, Lynch has made it clear she would not want her career to end with Dominik Mysterio slamming a door in her face. Now, reports suggest she is currently negotiating a new contract with WWE. It seems only a matter of time before Lynch steps back into the ring.
