Several WWE RAW and SmackDown Superstars have run into trouble with the higher-ups in the promotion over the years. Recently, WWE United States Champion LA Knight revealed that he has gotten into trouble with the higher-ups.
Over the past year, LA Knight has become one of the fastest-growing stars. Knight had an incredible 2023, where he began connecting with the audience, receiving massive ovations week after week. As a result, WWE decided to pull the trigger on Knight’s push.
It started at last year’s WWE SummerSlam, where he won the Slim Jim SummerSlam Battle Royal. Following this huge win, he entered into a program with The Bloodline and John Cena. This feud saw him team up with Cena to take on The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso.
This feud eventually led to a WWE Undisputed Championship match against Roman Reigns. Although Knight lost the match, his stardom continued to grow. Fast forward to now, Knight is the current WWE United States Champion. He won the title by defeating Logan Paul at SummerSlam. Despite such massive success in a year in WWE, he recently revealed that he has gotten into trouble with WWE higher-ups.
LA Knight on why he sometimes upsets WWE higher ups
LA Knight recently spoke to Sportbible about how he values being true to himself and staying authentic. He explained that he sometimes gets into trouble with WWE authorities because he prefers to work without too much planning.
LA Knight stated, “Sometimes I get myself in trouble because I like to work a little more off the cuff and sometimes they [WWE management] like a little structure. I try to meet them in the middle on that and for me, I want to listen and react instead of thinking of all this prefab.”
He emphasized the need to be a genuine performer. LA Knight added, “I want to be as authentic as I can be and connect with everybody out there, I need to listen. Instead of going out there pre-planned, just being able to be authentically me has been a godsend.”
Knight’s working style may have caused some issues with the promotion’s management. However, his approach is undoubtedly being recognized by fans for its unique attributes.
