WWE’s most decorated tag team, The New Day consisting of Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, and Big E, gears up to celebrate their ten-year anniversary. However, the team has faced numerous challenges over the past few years, especially with Big E sidelined due to a broken neck injury in 2022.
Since Big E‘s injury, The New Day has been led by both Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston. Amidst this, tensions have been building between the two over the past few months.
Both stars of The New Day have been seen arguing with each other on multiple occasions. This has led fans to believe that the beloved tag team could be on the verge of breaking up. This potential scenario could play out at their highly anticipated tenth anniversary. The occasion was announced by WWE RAW General Manager Adam Pearce a few weeks ago. Recently, Woods opened up about the recent clashes with Kingston ahead of their tenth anniversary.
Xavier Woods on Kofi Kingston tensions: ‘Sometimes brothers fight’
The New Day’s Xavier Woods appeared in an interview with TV Insider about his recent disagreements with Kofi Kingston. He explained that conflicts are a part of family dynamics, acknowledging that it is surprising it took this long for tensions to surface.
Woods said, “Sometimes brothers fight. Family fights. It’s just crazy that it has taken this long to start having a disagreement. We had so much time with no real tension. It has been very interesting.” Woods further elaborated by talking about the close ties he shares with his members.
Additionally, Woods stated, “It has always been in wrestling where someone gets jealous or someone accidentally hits someone and we’re fighting. The next thing you know I’m making someone bleed in the streets. If that happened, were we really genuine friends? What you’re seeing now is just a maturation of our brotherhood.”
Thus, Xavier Woods describes his recent disagreement with Kofi Kingston as a mature phase in the growth of their brotherhood. It will be interesting to see what unfolds at their highly anticipated ten-year anniversary.
