WWE is gearing up to celebrate The New Day, its most decorated tag team, as the faction approaches its tenth anniversary. In 2014, Xavier Woods pitched the idea of forming The New Day to Big E and Kofi Kingston, uniting the three superstars as each was struggling in singles competition.
They captured their first WWE Tag Team Championships in 2015. They also made history by holding the titles for a record-breaking 483 days. Although The Usos surpassed this milestone in 2022 with a 622-day reign, The New Day’s legacy remains unmatched.
Their famous catchphrases, “The Power of Positivity” and “The New Day Rocks,” quickly won over fans, turning the faction into one of WWE’s most beloved factions. In 2019, Kofi Kingston made headlines by winning the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35. Two years later, Big E captured the Championship on an episode of RAW. That same year, Xavier Woods added to their list of achievements by winning the King of the Ring tournament.
As they approach a decade together, the faction is currently having troubles. With Big E sidelined since 2022 due to a neck injury, the faction now consists of Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston. Additionally, tensions between Woods and Kingston have reportedly been mounting in the past few months.
On the recent episode of RAW, Adam Pearce announced plans to dedicate an entire show to celebrating The New Day. Amidst this, recent reports suggest that WWE has major plans for the faction’s anniversary show.
WWE’s The New Day anniversary celebration plans revealed
According to PWInsider, several weeks ago, WWE filmed a significant amount of content featuring all three members of The New Day at the promotion’s headquarters. Reports indicate that a planned segment allegedly involved the trio celebrating by tossing ice cream to WWE employees at the headquarters.
With WWE preparing exciting plans for the faction’s tenth anniversary, fans will finally see all three members together after a long time. However, many have speculated that the anniversary could bring a major shock. This is because WWE has been teasing a potential rift between Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston, resulting in a possible split.
