WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray has spoken out in support of AEW Women’s Champion Mariah May after WrestleDream 2024. May’s incredible year in All Elite Wrestling saw her win both the Owen Hart Cup and the AEW Women’s World Championship.
Months ago, Mariah stunned fans by betraying her best friend, Toni Storm. After securing her spot as the number one contender by winning the Owen Hart Cup, May turned on Storm. The two clashed at AEW All In, where May defeated Storm to capture the AEW Women’s World Championship. Since losing her title, Storm has stayed off TV, while May has shined as the new face of AEW’s women’s division. At AEW WrestleDream 2024, she defended her title in a hard-fought match against Willow Nightingale.
May retained her AEW Women’s Championship after a hard-fought battle. Despite her victory, the post-show media conference lacked energy. In an awkward turn, none of the reporters asked her any questions. Frustrated, May left the conference, saying, “Good work, guys. You have a bright future.” This lack of interest from the media angered WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray, who criticized the media for ignoring the AEW Women’s World Champion.
Bully Ray criticizes media’s handling of Mariah May
WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray has voiced his support for AEW Women’s Champion Mariah May. Speaking on “Busted Open Radio,” Bully Ray criticized the media for their lack of interest in May. He expressed frustration with the press for failing to show respect to the AEW Women’s Champion by not asking her any questions.
Ray started by extending an invitation to Mariah May on “Busted Open Radio.” He then criticized “the ignorant mouth-breathers at the press conference post-WrestleDream” for lacking curiosity and choosing not to ask a single question to the AEW Women’s Champion. He further said, “They did not have enough respect.”
Bully Ray not only criticized the media but also highlighted that Mariah May’s match was the only women’s match on the main show. Recently, AEW Women’s Champion Mariah May responded to his comments on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Let’s talk soon.”
