WWE Superstar Randy Orton faced rising star Je’Von Evans in a highly anticipated match on the latest edition of NXT. A few weeks ago, WWE NXT General Manager Ava announced Orton’s return to the show, marking a significant moment as NXT transitions to the CW network. Just last week, the debut episode featured an appearance by CM Punk.
Following the announcement, Orton took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to announce that he would face Je’Von Evans. Following the challenge, Evans accepted it from the 14-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Thus, their highly anticipated match took place on the latest edition of WWE NXT.
Je’Von Evans gave a hard-fought battle against Randy Orton. Nevertheless, the latter scored a win against Evans with an RKO. However, fans noticed that Evans was seen apologizing to Orton at the end of their match. This raises the big question as to why Evans apologized to Orton following their bout.
Je’Von Evans apologizes to Randy Orton for botch in their match
The highly anticipated match between Randy Orton and Je’Von Evans featured plenty of back-and-forth action, with the rising star putting everything on the line to impress the veteran. Evans fought hard against Randy Orton but made a significant botch during the climax of the match.
In the final moments, Evans attempted to finish things off with a double-jump twisting senton. This move was supposed to be caught with an RKO, but Evans failed to execute it correctly. After the botch, Orton quickly got to his feet and struck with an RKO, pinning Evans for the win.
After the match, Orton showed respect by helping Je’Von Evans to his feet. In response, Evans apologized, saying, “I’m so sorry.” Orton reassured him by replying, “You’re okay, you’re the man,” while raising his hand to acknowledge Evans’ efforts in the tough bout.
Je’Von Evans received appreciation not only from Randy Orton but also from General Manager Ava. In a backstage segment after the match, Ava was seen speaking with Ethan Page and Wes Lee, challenging them to earn a title shot.
She announced that the winner of their match next week would face Trick Williams for the NXT Championship at Halloween Havoc. In a twist, Ava added Je’Von Evans to the match, creating a high-stakes triple threat. Despite the botch, Evans earned a number one contender opportunity following his match against Orton.
