WWE Bad Blood 2024 teased an exciting match between World Heavyweight Champion Gunther and WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg. The event featured several legends, including Booker T, X-Pac, DDP, Arn Anderson, and Tully Blanchard, with Goldberg present at ringside.
During WWE Bad Blood 2024, Triple H made a significant announcement. He revealed that this year marks the start of a new era for WWE. He introduced a new annual event for WWE Crown Jewel set to take place on November 2, 2024, at the Mohammed Abdo Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Triple H announced that the top champions from the men and women divisions of RAW and SmackDown will compete against each other. Although neither title would be on the line, the winner would be crowned the Crown Jewel Champion.
Gunther is the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion on RAW. He entered the ring to declare his intention to win the new championship at Crown Jewel. He would accomplish this defeating Cody Rhodes, the WWE Undisputed Champion on SmackDown. However, amidst this major announcement, Gunther shifted his focus to Goldberg, who was at ringside.
Known for making personal remarks about fellow Superstars and Legends, Gunther insulted Goldberg’s parenting abilities. This prompted Goldberg to leap over the barricade. However, security rushed in to prevent him from engaging physically with the Ring General. Following the tension between Gunther and Goldberg, updates have surfaced regarding the potential matchup between the two.
Current status of Goldberg & Gunther’s anticipated clash
Recently, wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer shared his insights on the teased matchup between Gunther and Goldberg. During a discussion on Wrestling Observer Radio, he expressed his belief that this angle will likely lead to an actual match.
He stated, “Why would they do the angle if they aren’t going to do the match. Maybe they will do it at Mania. They are bringing everyone else back. They could also say they don’t need it at Mania and they could do it at Royal Rumble or something. It’s actually a Saudi match but Gunther is facing Cody, unless Sami wins. Maybe Sami wins with Goldberg’s help? It sure felt like they were doing a match at some point.”
Meltzer also speculated that Goldberg might interfere and cost Gunther his title in the upcoming edition of WWE RAW. The Ring General is scheduled to defend his title against Sami Zayn in St. Louis, Missouri. It will be intriguing to see what drama unfolds in this highly anticipated matchup on RAW.
