AEW President Tony Khan recently delivered a significant update on the upcoming television deal with Warner Bros. Discovery. The wrestling promotion currently broadcasts three major shows: Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision, all airing on the WBD network.
Since 2019, Dynamite has served as AEW’s flagship weekly show on TBS. Rampage has aired every Friday on TNT since 2021, while Collision debuted on Saturdays on TNT in 2023. While these shows have been major successes for the promotion over the past few years, low ratings have sparked speculation about whether WBD will renew their contract with All Elite Wrestling.
AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery have built a strong relationship since 2019, and reports about a new deal have circulated for several months. However, recent news surfaced that the new TV rights deal with WBD is a four-year contract, featuring three guaranteed years and an optional fourth year. The promotion is expected to receive approximately $170 million per year. In light of these developments, Khan provided an important update indicating a potential long-term partnership between AEW and WBD.
Tony Khan confirms AEW’s long term partnership with TBS & TNT
Tony Khan recently appeared on Busted Open Radio, where he discussed the promotion’s future and the reports about AEW nearing a new media rights deal with WBD. He is confident that AEW, along with TBS and TNT, will remain a significant presence for a long time.
He stated, “I know they have been reporting things that are very interesting. There are a lot of reports and rumors. I have not confirmed and Warner Brothers has not confirmed anything officially. I think we have a really exciting future there. I can say with 100% certainty, AEW and TBS and TNT are here to stay for a long time.”
With Tony Khan indicating positive signs, AEW and WBD could soon announce their new TV deal. Meanwhile, the promotion is reportedly introducing a new show called AEW ShockWave, which is expected to air on FOX, the former home of WWE SmackDown.
