AEW star Ricochet Reveals How a Top Star’s Advocacy Made an Impact

Former WWE United States Champion Ricochet made his highly anticipated debut at AEW All In. His WWE contract expired in July, making him a free agent. WWE had written him off the television in June when he was attacked by Bron Breakker, just before his contract ended.

This fueled speculation that he was on his way to join AEW. Fans anticipated his appearance at Wembley Stadium, which came to fruition as Ricochet made his AEW debut during the Casino Gauntlet Match at All In. Although he did not win the World title shot, he made a strong impression in the Gauntlet.

Following his impressive debut, President Tony Khan made a significant announcement confirming that Ricochet had officially signed with AEW. Last week, Ricochet took to the squared circle on AEW Dynamite to face off against Kyle Fletcher. In a stellar performance, Ricochet emerged victorious in his singles debut. Many fans are now anticipating Ricochet’s great accomplishments in AEW, given his impressive start.

Meanwhile, the former WWE star recently reflected on an exciting moment from his WWE days. He found it particularly gratifying to see himself endorsed by AEW Intercontinental Champion Will Ospreay while he was still with WWE.

Ricochet’s reaction to Will Ospreay’s endorsement

Hardcore wrestling fans are familiar with the intense rivalry and standout matches between Ricochet and Will Ospreay. Back in May, the former was crowned the inaugural WWE Speed Champion. WWE introduced WWE Speed this year, which airs exclusively on X (formerly Twitter) and features matches with time limits.

During an interview with Comicbook.com in May, Will Ospreay expressed his disappointment over how WWE uses Ricochet. Ospreay criticized the promotion for valuing his time in the ring as being limited to under five minutes, referring specifically to the WWE Speed.

In a recent interview with CBS Sports, the former WWE star said he found it gratifying to see Will Ospreay advocate for him so passionately. He stated, “To see him so verbally advocate for me is awesome. I think for a long time Ricochet hasn’t had the opportunity to advocate for himself so it was really cool to have my homie do that for me.”

With Ricochet and Will Ospreay now in the same promotion, fans are excited for their potential match. Last week on AEW Dynamite, an anticipated interaction between Ricochet and Ospreay was cut short when PAC attacked Ospreay. This weekend, Ospreay will defend his title against PAC at AEW All Out.
