WWE superstar Roman Reigns made his much-anticipated return in Cleveland, Ohio, at WWE SummerSlam. Reigns, who had been replaced by Solo Sikoa as Tribal Chief, confronted Sikoa at SummerSlam.
Sikoa, who faced Cody Rhodes for the WWE Undisputed Title at SummerSlam, had called out Reigns prior to the match. He had declared himself the new Tribal Chief and was confronted by Roman Reigns during his match against Cody Rhodes.
After costing Solo Sikoa his match against Cody Rhodes, Reigns engaged in a huge brawl with the former and The Bloodline last Friday on WWE SmackDown. Furthermore, Reigns single-handedly took out the entire Bloodline by himself.
Since WrestleMania 40, Sikoa has taken over The Bloodline, bringing in Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu. This new version of The Bloodline also kicked out Paul Heyman and Jimmy Uso from the faction. These changes prompted Roman Reigns to return and confront his brother.
While Reigns is back and ready to reclaim his crown from Solo Sikoa, recent reports have shed light on WWE’s plans for him following his return.
What’s next for Roman Reigns?
Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, revealed what’s next for Roman Reigns following his return. It appears that WWE is planning two major matches for Reigns in the near future. Meltzer stated, “So, he’s going to be gone (Jacob Fatu) while Roman Reigns is around until whenever the time is right to hook them up. I can’t say he’s not hurt but everything that’s happening was planned to happen. I think they want Roman with Solo first then Jacob Fatu after that.”
At SummerSlam, Jacob Fatu suffered an injury after delivering a splash onto Cody Rhodes through the announcers’ table. However, reports later confirmed that Fatu was actually selling the injury, as WWE wanted to avoid a confrontation between him and Reigns.
Jacob Fatu was also absent from last week’s WWE SmackDown, where Reigns took out The Bloodline. Meltzer has speculated that WWE is planning major matches for Reigns against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu. It will be interesting to see when these matchups will occur.
