Former WWE Tag Team Champions, The Hardy Boyz, Matt & Jeff Hardy, recently returned to TNA after departing from AEW. The Hardy Boyz, who had expressed frustration with their booking in AEW, decided not to renew their contracts.
Matt Hardy initiated the Hardy Boyz’ TNA comeback with a surprise appearance at Rebellion, bringing back his iconic “Broken” character. He attacked the then-TNA World Champion Moose. A few months later, Jeff Hardy joined his brother at the Against All Odds pay-per-view, marking the official reunion of the legendary tag team in TNA.
The recent WWE-TNA partnership has ignited speculation about a potential Hardy Boyz reunion in the WWE. With NXT talent crossing over to TNA and vice versa, the stage seems set for a Hardy Boyz return.
WWE NXT Tag Team Champion Nathan Frazer recently expressed his desire for a dream match against the legendary duo. Intriguingly, the Hardy Boyz have responded to Frazer’s challenge, hinting at a possible WWE comeback.
Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy drop hints at WWE return
Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy recently gave an interview to Sportskeeda’s Wrestling. Both brothers responded to Nathan Frazer’s challenge, teasing that they are coming after the WWE NXT Tag Team Titles.
Matt Hardy stated, “In wrestling, never say never, and I will say that the NXT Tag Team Titles are not on our list of titles that we’ve won, so we are interested in that. And I think this crossover between NXT and TNA is great. It’s exciting, it’s unpredictable, and I think that’s a positive for the business and the industry.”
Furthermore, Jeff Hardy also gave his response to the challenge. He stated, “I’m a fan of first-time-ever, and us in NXT, just the vision of that is very exciting to me. When Matt first showed up in TNA, my wife called me into the bathroom, she said, ‘Did you know Matt was going to TNA?’, I said, ‘No, I had no idea’.
“And then I watched the footage like, ‘Oh my god’. And to myself, I speak with my soul, I went, ‘There’s no way we’re going back to TNA’. But then I just let that dwell and I thought about it, and I thought, ‘Oh my god, wait a minute, I had a lot of cool moments in TNA. I created a lot of great memories in TNA’. And then it was last notice, we had the conversation, and I agreed to go back, and for some reason, it just feels right, like it was supposed to be this way. Especially with the Joe Hendry deal in NXT, all that stuff is so exciting, so I think it kinda happened for a reason.”
It will be interesting to see if this recent partnership between WWE and TNA leads to the return of The Hardy Boyz.
