What Did Bill Goldberg Say About WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart?

The WWE Hall of Famers Bill Goldberg and Bret Hart have a long history of animosity. The bitterness began more than two decades ago during their time in WCW, a rival promotion to WWE. At WCW Starrcade 1999, Bret Hart defended his world title against Goldberg.

During their world title match, Goldberg kicked Bret Hart, causing a concussion that contributed to the end of The Hitman’s in-ring career. Since then, WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart has taken many jabs at Bill Goldberg for not being a safe wrestler.

Recently, Vice premiered its docuseries titled “Who Killed WCW?” This series has reignited the conversation surrounding the infamous events of Starrcade 1999. Both WWE Hall of Famers Goldberg and Bret Hart appear in the docuseries, revisiting their long-standing tension.

However, Bret Hart still believes to this day that Goldberg’s kick wasn’t an accident. He stated in the docuseries, “When I think back on my career there will always be a little bitterness about that time period. I had so many things left in my career unfinished, things I wanted to do. To watch what WCW did with me, it was sad. They’re killing me off on purpose and they did. How do you fight Bill Goldberg? He’s like a gorilla slamming guys right through the mat, running them over like a car.”

While Bret Hart is still bitter toward Goldberg, the former WWE Universal Champion, also featured in the docuseries, mentioned that what happened was an accident. He expressed deep remorse, acknowledging that ending Hart’s career was never his intention, and despite feeling regretful for years, he feels powerless to change what happened.

Bill Goldberg to Bret Hart: ‘Grow Up’

While Goldberg has apologized for the incidents on many occasions, it appears that The Hitman is in no mood to forgive the former WWE Universal Champion.

Recently, Goldberg appeared on Busted Open Radio and addressed the Bret Hart situation. He mentioned that he loves The Hitman but told him to ‘grow up.’ He stated, “The Bret Hart thing, it just saddens me as a human being. That’s all. First and foremost, I would never wish ill will upon any opponent or anyone like that. To have an accident like that happen and end someone’s career, especially someone who’s one of the best that ever was, 100%, it sucks. I’m not asking anybody to understand. It is what it is. Come on, man. I love you, Bret. Don’t be such a pr*ck. That’s all. Grow up… I love the guy. He’s an icon. Just get over it. That’s all. I’m sorry. What do you want me to do? As a human being, it saddens me that he can’t come to grips with it.”

It seems Goldberg wants to patch things up with The Hitman. However, WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart still feels the same way about Goldberg.
