His last appearance in WWE was in May 2022, when he faced off against The Bloodline before being sidelined. Reports surfaced indicating that Orton had suffered a career-threatening back injury. He underwent spinal fusion surgery during his time away from action, lasting 18 months. This marked the longest period Orton has been out of WWE action.
Recently, Randy Orton shared details about his career-ending injury. In an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestlebinge, Orton discussed experts advising him to stop wrestling after his back surgery. He stated, “I had top neurologists telling me that, ‘You know what, you had a great career, you have a life after wrestling, and you wanna be comfortable. You don’t wanna be in pain the rest of your life. We’re gonna fix your back, but you’re gonna have to stop wrestling’. The first six months that I was out, I had that in the back of my head, and it was tough. It was mentally very challenging.”
Randy Orton, who was advised to stop wrestling. He completed his full recovery from rehab and returned to wrestling. Orton made his return last November in the men’s WarGames match. He joined the team of Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Jey Uso, and Sami Zayn to take on Judgment Day and Drew McIntyre.

While Orton plans to wrestle until he is 50, a major match is scheduled for him in the upcoming edition of WWE SmackDown. Orton, who reached the semi-finals of the King of the Ring tournament, is set to face Tama Tonga. The winner of this match will face Gunther in the finals at WWE King & Queen of the Ring in Saudi Arabia.
