WWE superstar Becky Lynch recently reflected on the first women’s WrestleMania main event match. At WrestleMania 35, Lynch faced off in a triple-threat match against Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey. The bout ended with Lynch pinning Rousey on the mat, handing Rousey the first WWE loss of her career.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Becky Lynch shared her thoughts on Ronda Rousey’s reluctance to tap out during their match. She stated, “That was the creative laid out. She had; her driver had taken her to the wrong spot, so she showed up like an hour…we had been talking through stuff. TJ Wilson, our producer, an amazing producer, he was like, ‘Maybe you have Ronda in armbar, she looks like she’s about to tap out,’ Ronda comes and we tell her the creative, ‘You’re almost about to tap out.’ ‘My mom wouldn’t look me in the eye or talk to me again if I looked like I was about to tap out.'”
She continued, “‘Alright, well, she’s probably not going to tap out on the finish then.’ She never tapped out in her career. Understood it, respected it, and moved on quickly. I was going to win, I was going to win two titles in the main event of WrestleMania. It was not a big deal whether she tapped out or not. I was winning and she was doing the honors.“
Lynch thought it wasn’t a big deal for her, and she respected Rousey’s decision not to let her tap out. While Lynch managed to pin Rousey, unfortunately, Rousey’s shoulder was up, which was not planned for the finish of the match.
Becky Lynch returned to the ring following WWE WrestleMania 40
Becky Lynch had a fantastic WrestleMania 35, defeating Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair to become the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion. However, her recent WrestleMania experience wasn’t as positive, facing Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women’s World Championship. Despite being the opening match of night two at WrestleMania 40, Ripley managed to defeat Lynch and retain her title.
Since this loss, Becky Lynch has not made an appearance on WWE TV. However, she did return to in-ring action during the WWE Europe tour, where she faced Piper Niven in Birmingham and Cardiff. Fans are eagerly anticipating her return to WWE programming.
