The AEW booking strategy for Will Ospreay, following his transition to full-time status with the company, has been disclosed. The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion was announced as AEW’s latest signing back in November during Full Gear. Ospreay made it clear that he would fulfill his obligations with New Japan Pro Wrestling before committing full-time to AEW.
Having concluded his NJPW commitments, Ospreay has officially become a full-time member of the AEW roster. Ospreay, who aligns with Don Callis’ family, has been seen alongside Callis. Callis, who betrayed Kenny Omega last May on AEW Dynamite, was even spotted with Ospreay during his match against Kenny Omega at the AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door 2023 PPV.
Now, with Will Opsreay being a full-time wrestler for AEW, his future plans have been revealed. According to reports from Fightful Select behind paywall, individuals within AEW don’t anticipate Ospreay to remain aligned with Don Callis on AEW programming for an extended period.
Ospreay’s most recent appearance in AEW occurred at WrestleDream back in October. He teamed up with Takeshita and Sammy Guevara, who are the member of the Don Callis family. They defeated the team of Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, and Kota Ibushi.
Will Ospreay is set to be in action at AEW Revolution
Will Ospreay officially debuted on the latest edition of Dynamite as an All Elie Wrestling wrestler. A few weeks ago, it was announced that Ospreay would face Konosuke Takeshita, a member of the Don Callis family, at AEW Revolution on March 3.
During his in-ring segment on Dynamite, the Don Callis family interrupted him. With all members of the faction coming down to ringside, led by Don Callis, the family officially welcomed Ospreay to All Elite while hyping the showdown between him and Konosuke Takeshita.
Don Callis even promoted the match as one of the biggest for the company. Tensions quickly escalated between Ospreay and Takeshita, almost leading to a confrontation before other members of the Don Callis family intervened.
