The report revealed that MJF is currently on vacation in Costa Rica, approximately 1,500 miles away from the Dynamite venue.

Tony Khan speaks out on MJF’s removal from AEW roster
After MJF’s surprising defeat at AEW World’s End, AEW took an unforeseen action by deleting MJF from their website roster page. This move came in response to MJF’s constant hints about a ‘Bidding War of 2024’ in his promos, suggesting the expiration of his AEW contract on January 1, 2024.
Speaking in an interview with Going Ringside, AEW owner Tony Khan was questioned about Maxwell’s contract status. In reply, he said:
“I can say that MJF certainly has been a great part of AEW for the first five years, and through those five years, certainly, he’s been one of our great homegrown stars, and he’s somebody we really value, and I would love to have MJF in AEW in the future, should the contractual situation allow. Certainly MJF is somebody we would love to have an AEW going forward. And he’s been a great wrestler and a great champion for us.”
Even wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer says Maxwell’s absence is purely part of the storyline, as he has already inked a long-term deal with AEW.
Nevertheless, he is currently contending with a torn labrum and other injuries, and there is a possibility that he might take time off for recovery, potentially keeping him on the sidelines for a significant portion of 2024.
