Disney Channel has released the first teaser trailer for the Tangled series, coming in 2017! The new animated series is based on Disney’s popular animated film Tangled.
Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi are reprising their roles of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider (nee Eugene). Also making the leap to the small screen are fan-favorite characters like Rapunzel’s chameleon sidekick, Pascal, and the uppity horse Maximus.
Three actors reprising voice roles from the film include Jeffrey Tambor as Big Nose and Paul F. Tompkins as Shorty (both Snuggly Duckling Pub Thugs), as well as M.C. Gainey as Captain of the Guards.
Joining these returning favorites are Ashley Judd as Rapunzel’s mother Queen Arianna; Broadway star Eden Espinosa as Rapunzel’s handmaiden and confidant, Cassandra; comedian Jeff Ross as Hook Hand’s brother Hook Foot; Richard Kind as Uncle Monty; Sean Hayes, as Pete the Guard; Peter MacNicol as Nigel the Advisor; Clancy Brown as Rapunzel’s father King Frederic; Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as blacksmith Xavier; Diedrich Bader as Stan the Guard; Charles Halford as Pub Thug Vladimir; Steve Blum as Pub Thug Attila Buckethead; James Monroe Iglehart as Eugene’s friend Lance Strongbow; Jeremy Jordan as teen alchemist Varian; and Jonathan Banks as Quirin, Varian’s father.
The series is set to take place in between events of the feature film and the 2012 short film Tangled Ever After. Apparently there were a lot of adventures that Rapunzel and Eugene got into in the time in-between.
The show will feature new songs from Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater. Clare Keane, daughter of Disney Legend Glen Keane (who served as an animation supervisor on Tangled), consulted on the series.
