Forever Teaser Trailer Previews Netflix’s Judy Blume Adaptation

A new Forever teaser trailer previews the upcoming Netflix teen drama series offering a reimagining of the Judy Blume classic.

Based on Blume’s seminal 1975 novel about two high school students losing their virginity, Forever takes a different approach with the adaptation. It is described as an epic love story of two teenagers as they explore romance and their identities while dealing with the awkwardness of being each other’s firsts. The story is set in Los Angeles in 2018, with Lovie Simone and Michael Cooper Jr. in the lead roles.

What happens in the Forever teaser trailer?

The teaser begins with Keisha (Simone) and Justin (Cooper) crossing paths. Justin, who is described as nerdy, doesn’t recognize Simone at first. But the editing of the teaser suggests that they were childhood friends. Justin asks Simone if she still runs tracks. She does, and she’s quite skilled at it. For his part, Justin plays basketball.

The trailer then shows Justin courting Simone. He sends her flowers and the two are seen holding hands. Keisha says she’s not ready for a relationship, though the two grow intimate and begin to fall for each other. Lastly, the Forever teaser highlights Justin fighting for his relationship with Simone as she seems to have moved on with someone else.

A release date was not revealed, though it’s coming soon on Netflix.

The cast also includes Karen Pittman, Wood Harris, Xosha Roquemore, Marvis Winans III, Niles Fitch, Barry Shabaka Henley, Ali Gallo, Adriyan Rae, Paigion Walker, Xavier Mills, and E’myri Crutchfield.

Forever is created by Mara Brock Akil, known for being the creator of the multi-sitcom Girlfriends which starred Tracee Ellis Ross and aired for eight seasons, running from 2000 to 2008. Akil serves as showrunner as well as executive producing alongside Blume, Susie Fitzgerald, Erika Harrison, Sara White, Regina King, Reina King, Shana C. Waterman, and Anthony Hemingway.

A previous adaptation of Blume’s novel Forever… first premiered in 1978.
