Max has finally shared the first Creature Commandos clip from DC Studios’ first DC Universe adult-animated series, which hails creator James Gunn. The film is slated to make its debut on Thursday, December 5, 2024 on Max.
“The series tracks a secret team of incarcerated monsters recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. When all else fails… they’re your last, worst option,” reads the logline.

What happens in the Creature Commandos clip?
In the video, the titular team of misfits embark on their first mission together with Marvel vet Frank Grillo leading them as he portrays the role of Rick Flag Sr. It also provides fans with a preview of the team’s dynamic.
Creature Commandos marks Gunn’s first TV show as part of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters for his new DC Universe timeline. It features the voices of Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Indira Varma as Bride of Frankenstein, David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Alan Tudyk as Doctor Phosphorus, Zoë Chao as Nina Mazursky, Sean Gunn as G.I. Robot/Weasel, and Steve Agee as John Economos, with Viola Davis reprising Amanda Waller in animated form.
The series is created and written by Gunn, based on the DC Comics team created by J.M. DeMatteis and Pat Broderick. In addition, Gunn is also serving as an executive producer alongside Peter Safran, Dean Lorey, and Sam Register, with Rick Morales set as a supervising producer.
