What happens in The Penguin trailer?

The Penguin trailer features the return of Oscar nominee Colin Farrell as he once again transforms into the titular DC villain. The video highlights the aftermath of Carmine Falcone’s death after he was killed by the Riddler during the 2022 movie. Oswald Cobb wants to take advantage of the situation by enacting his plans to take over the Falcone criminal empire from his former boss’ kids.

The Penguin will chronicle Cobb’s rise to power in Gotham’s seedy underbelly, giving fans a look into how he becomes the formidable crime kingpin he’s known to be. Joining Farrell are Rhenzy Feliz, Cristin Milioti, Michael Zegen, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, James Madio, Scott Cohen, Francois Chau, Carmen Ejogo, David H. Holmes, and more.

The 8-episode series is written by showrunner Lauren LeFranc, with Craig Zobel directing the first two episodes. Executive producers are The Batman’s Dylan Clark and Matt Reeves, Farrell, LeFranc, Daniel Pipski, Adam Kassanand, and Rafi Crohn. It is a joint project between 6th and Idaho, DC Entertainment, Dylan Clark Productions, and Warner Bros. Television.
