Peacock has released the official Those About to Die trailer for its newest epic drama, starring Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins. The series will be available for streaming on starting on July 18.
“It is an epic drama set in the corrupt world of the spectacle-driven gladiatorial competition, exploring a side of ancient Rome never before told — the dirty business of entertaining the masses, giving the mob what they want most…blood and sport. The series introduces an ensemble of characters from all corners of the Roman Empire who collide at the explosive intersection of sports, politics, and dynasties,” reads the show’s official logline.

What happens in Those About to Die trailer?
In the Those About to Die trailer, Hopkins gets introduced as an Emperor whose main goal is to protect his beloved Rome from its dangerous enemies. It also features Game of Thrones alum Iwan Rheon, who becomes the master of the gladiatorial games, the one responsible for creating entertainment for Rome’s eager masses.
Those About to Die is executive produced and directed by Roland Emmerich, with Saving Private Ryan scribe Robert Rodat writing the screenplay based on Daniel Mannix’s nonfiction book of the same name. The series also stars Tom Hughes, Sara Martins, Jojo Macari, Gabriella Pession, Dimitri Leonidas, Moe Hashim, Liraz Charhi, Johannes Haukur Johannesson, Rupert Penry-Jones, Eneko Sagardoy, Pepe Barroso, Gonçalo Almeida, Kyshan Wilson, and Alicia Edogamhe. It is executive produced by Gianni Nunnari, Harald Kloser, Herbert G. Kloiber, Oliver Berben, Martin Moszkowicz, Stuart Ford, Lourdes Diaz, and Jonas Bauer.
