The first Knuckles trailer has been released by Paramount, previewing and dating the Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off series, which will come out on April 26 and stream on Paramount+.
The Knuckles series features Idris Elba returning to voice the titular Echidna warrior following the character’s live-action debut in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. In the spin-off, Knuckles agrees to train Wade as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior. It is expected to take place between the events of the sequel and the upcoming third installment, which arrives in theaters on December 20, 2024.

The cast of the series includes Elba, Edi Patterson (The Righteous Gemstones), Julian Barratt (Mindhorn), Scott Mescudi (Don’t Look Up), Ellie Taylor (Ted Lasso), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride), Stockard Channing (Grease), Paul Scheer (Veep), and Rob Huebel (Childrens Hospital).
Who is directing Knuckles?
The project hails from head writer and executive producer John Whittington, with Sonic the Hedgehog director Jeff Fowler helming the pilot episode. Joining Fowler in the directing lineup are Brandon Trost, Jorma Taccone, and Carol Banker.
Brian Schacter and James Madejski have also been tapped as writers. Executive producers are Elba, Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara, with Paramount Pictures and Sega of America producing.
