Following its series debut yesterday, Max has released a new True Detective: Night Country trailer for the remaining five episodes of its crime drama thriller, starring Jodie Foster.
The video highlights Foster’s Liz and Kali Reis’s Evangeline’s dangerous murder case involving a serial killer who tattoos a mysterious symbol on his victims. Written and directed by Issa López, Episode 2 will be streamed on January 21.

What is True Detective: Night Country about?
“When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace,” reads the new season’s synopsis. “To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”
True Detective: Night Country is co-written and directed by López, who also serves as the showrunner. Joining Foster and Reis are Fiona Shaw, Finn Bennett, Isabella Star Lablanc, Aka Niviâna, Anna Lambe, Joel D. Montgrand, Christopher Eccleston, and John Hawkes. It is executive produced by Foster, Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski, Mark Ceryak, Mari Jo Winkler, Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Cary Joji Fukunaga and original series creator Nic Pizzolatto.
