Netflix has released a brand new All the Light We Cannot See video for Shawn Levy’s upcoming limited series adaptation of the acclaimed novel of the same name. The coming-of-age war drama is scheduled to make its debut on November 2.
The featurette highlights the casting journey of acting newcomer Aria Mia Loberti, who won the leading role of Marie-Laure LeBlanc through a global casting search where she was chosen out of a thousand auditionees. It shows Levy and the rest of the main cast talking about what’s like working with Loberti, whose natural talent for acting elevated her character and the story.

What is All the Light We Cannot See?
All the Light We Cannot See is a based on Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 2014 novel. In her official acting debut, Aria Mia Loberti portrays the role of a blind teenager who comes across Werner, a German soldier, as they both struggle to survive the chaos of an occupied France during World War II. Joining Loberti are Mark Ruffalo as Daniel LeBlanc, Hugh Laurie as Uncle Etienne, Louis Hofmann as Werner, Lars Eidinger as Von Rumpel, Marion Bailey as Madame Manec, and Nell Sutton as a younger Marie-Laure.
“It follows the story of Marie-Laure, a blind French girl and her father, Daniel LeBlanc, who flee German-occupied Paris with a legendary diamond to keep it from falling into the hands of the Nazis,” reads the synopsis. “Relentlessly pursued by a cruel Gestapo officer who seeks to possess the stone for his own selfish means, Marie-Laure and Daniel soon find refuge in St. Malo, where they take up residence with a reclusive uncle who transmits clandestine radio broadcasts as part of the resistance. Yet here in this once-idyllic seaside city, Marie-Laure’s path also collides inexorably with the unlikeliest of kindred spirits: Werner, a brilliant teenager enlisted by Hitler’s regime to track down illegal broadcasts, who instead shares a secret connection to Marie-Laure as well as her faith in humanity and the possibility of hope.”
All the Light We Cannot See is directed by Levy from a script written by Steven Knight. It is executive produced by Levy, Knight Dan Levine, and Josh Barry for 21 Laps Entertainment. Joe Strechay, who previously worked with Apple TV+’s See series, was enlisted as an associate producer and a Blindness and Accessibility consultant.
