Amazon Studios has dropped the official The Horror of Dolores Roach trailer for the upcoming dark comedy thriller, featuring Justina Machado as an ex-convict masseuse who finds herself becoming a serial killer. The series will be available for streaming on July 7, exclusively on Prime Video.
The video shows Machado’s Dolores Roach trying to start a new life after serving time in prison. She gets a chance to become a masseuse when her long-time friend offers the basement of his Empanada store to be her office. However, Dolores’ new life goes sideways when she accidentally kills a customer. Her friend helps her get rid of the body by turning it into an ingredient for his Empanada.

Who’s Involved in The Horror of Dolores Roach?
Based on the Spotify podcast of the same name, The Horror of Dolores Roach is described as a contemporary Sweeney Todd-inspired urban legend of love, betrayal, weed, cannibalism, and survival of the fittest. It stars Justina Machado, Alejandro Hernandez, Kita Updike, and K. Todd Freeman.
“In the series, Dolores Roach (Machado) is released after an unjust 16-year prison sentence, and she returns to a gentrified Washington Heights,” reads the synopsis. “Dolores reunites with an old stoner friend, Luis (Hernandez), who lets her live and work as a masseuse in the basement under his empanada shop. When the promise of her newfound stability is quickly threatened, “Magic Hands” Dolores is driven to shocking extremes to survive.”
The Horror of Dolores Roach adaptation is written and executive produced by original podcast series creator-writer Aaron Mark, who is also set as the showrunner. Executive producers are Dara Resnik, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Jason Blum, Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold, Chris Dickie, Dawn Ostroff, Mimi O’Donnell, Justin McGoldrick, Gloria Calderón Kellett, and Roxann Dawson.
