Prime Video has unveiled the first Outer Range teaser for Amazon Studios’ upcoming genre-bending western drama, which will be led by Avengers: Endgame star Josh Brolin. Described as a “bold and twisty” hour-long drama, the series will be available for streaming on Friday, April 15 with the first two episodes.
The teaser, which you can check out below, begins with Brolin’s Royal Abbott at the dinner table with his family as he leads a passionate prayer where he pleads to God for answers about his plans for the crazy world he created and the great void between him and humans. It highlights the unsettling and unexplained events that the Abbott family will encounter following the tragedy that befell them.

“The series centers on Royal Abbott, a rancher fighting for his land and family, who discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of Wyoming’s wilderness,” reads the synopsis. “A thrilling fable with hints of wry humor and supernatural mystery, Outer Range examines how we grapple with the unknown. At the onset of the series, the Abbotts are coping with the disappearance of daughter-in-law Rebecca. They are pushed further to the brink when the Tillersons (the gaudy owners of the neighboring profit-driven ranch) make a play for their land. An untimely death in the community sets off a chain of tension-filled events, and seemingly small-town, soil-bound troubles come to a head with the arrival of a mysterious black void in the Abbotts’ west pasture. Wild revelations unfold as Royal fights to protect his family; through his eyes, we begin to see how time contains secrets held in the past and unsettling mysteries foreshadowed.”
Outer Range will be led by Josh Brolin (Milk) in his first major TV project in nearly two decades since starring in NBC’s political drama Mister Sterling, which only ran for one season. Brolin will be portraying the role of Royal Abbott, who’s a Wyoming born and bred man described as a “kind of last real cowboy.” He is a man for whom home is everything.
Joining him are Imogen Poots, Lili Taylor, Tamara Podemski, Lewis Pullman, Tom Pelphrey, Noah Reid, Shaun Sipos, Isabel Arraiza, Olive Abercrombie, and Will Patton.
