Hulu has dropped the first Conversations with Friends teaser for BBC Three’s newest Sally Rooney adaptation, following the success of 2020’s romantic drama Normal People. The video, which you can check out below, features a college student who gets involved in a secret affair with a married man. It is currently scheduled to make its debut this May.

Based on Sally Rooney’s 2017 debut novel, Conversations With Friends will be led by newcomer Alison Oliver as Frances, Sasha Lane (Hearts Beat Loud, Loki) as Bobbi, Joe Alwyn (The Favourite) as Nick and Jemima Kirke (Girls) as Melissa.

Conversations with Friends is executive produced by Element Pictures’ Ed Guiney, Emma Norton, and Andrew Lowe along with Rooney and BBC’s Tommy Bulfin. Oscar nominee Lenny Abrahamson is directing and serving as an executive producer, with Catherine Magee and Jeanie Igoe set as producers. It is an Element Pictures production for Hulu and BBC Three.
