HBO Max has released the official trailer for the upcoming fifth and final season of the Alia Shawkat-led dark comedy-thriller Search Party. It is currently scheduled to return on January 7, 2022.
The Search Party final season trailer, which you can check out below, features Dory as she attains enlightenment following her near-death experience during the fourth season. She partners with a billionaire to lead a cult-like group, where she’ll convince other people to follow her ideas about enlightenment.

Search Party began with four best friends who get involved in a messy private investigation, semi-accidental murder, absurd cover-up, sensational trial, and an abduction. It stars Alia Shawkat, John Reynolds, John Early, and Meredith Hagner, with Jeff Goldblum joining the main cast for the fifth season.
“In the new season, Dory enters a very public business partnership with charismatic tech billionaire Tunnel Quinn on the other side of her near-death experience,” reads the logline. “Dory folds her old friends Portia, Elliott and Drew into the venture as they embark on an altruistic but terrifying journey.”
The final season will feature recurring guest stars including Kathy Griffin, John Waters, Aparna Nancherla, Angela Trimbur, Grace Kuhlenschmidt, Greta Titelman, Joe Castle Baker, Larry Owens, Michelle Badillo, Jeffery Self, and Clare McNulty.

The Search Party is executive produced by Sarah-Violet Bliss, Charles Rogers, Michael Showalter, and Jax Media’s Lilly Burns and Tony Hernandez, with Bliss and Rogers serving as showrunners.
