HBO Max has dropped the first teaser trailer for Adam McKay’s forthcoming biographical sports dramedy titled Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, centering around the basketball team’s Showtime era during the 1980s. The series is scheduled to make its debut in March 2022 on HBO and on HBO Max.
The Winning Time teaser, which you can check out below, highlights Jerry Buss’ successful acquisition of the Los Angeles Lakers. It also features the introduction of newcomer Quincy Isaiah as the legendary basketball player Magic Johnson, who led the team along with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to five NBA championships.

Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty is written and co-created by Max Borenstein, and Jim Hecht, who are also executive producing. The story will be based on Jeff Pearlman’s book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s.

The sports drama stars John C.
