During the recent CCXP Worlds 2021, Amazon Prime Video has officially announced the upcoming premiere of an animated anthology spin-off titled The Boys: Diabolical, based on the streamer’s popular superhero series from executive producers Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, and Evan Goldberg. It is scheduled to make its debut sometime in 2022.
In addition, the announcement also came with a video which you can check out below, featuring The Boys star Karl Urban as he teases fans about the upcoming new show.

The adult-animated action comedy is expected to feature eight new untold stories from an all-star writing line-up including Golden Globe winners Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Awkwafina (The Farewell) along with Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland.

The Boys: Diabolical is based on the best-selling comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, who are both serving as executive producers. The writing team will also include Ennis, Goldberg, and Rogen along with Ilana Glazer & Eliot Glazer (Broad City), Simon Racioppa (Invincible), Ben Bayouth (Blark and Son), and Aisha Tyler (Whose Line Is It Anyway?).
“We’re almost finished with eight episodes of our animated series, Diabolical. We gathered together some incredible creators and we gave them one rule…just kidding, there’s no rules. They blew the doors off it,” Kripke said in a statement (via Deadline).
The animated spin-off is a co-production by Amazon Studios, Sony Pictures Television Studios, Titmouse, Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures. Kripke, Rogen, Goldberg, Racioppa, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Ori Marmur, Ken F. Levin, Jason Netter, Michaela Starr, Loreli Alanís, Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, and Ben Kalina are executive producing.

This marks the second spin-off that will be set in the world of The Boys, with first one being a live-action series which will be a college-set story centering around young adult superheroes. It will be based on the G-Men team from the comic book series which is being described as a parody of Marvel’s X-Men team.
