After releasing a stylish teaser earlier this month, we now have the first Cowboy Bebop trailer for the forthcoming live-action adaptation of the classic anime. The long-awaited series is slated to arrive on Friday, November 19.
Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bebop series is created by Andre Mac and Jeff Pinkner from a script written by Christopher Yost (Thor: Ragnarok) and Javier Grillo-Marxuach. It will star John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine, Alex Hassell as Vicious, and Elena Satine as Julia.

“An action-packed space Western about three bounty hunters, aka ‘cowboys, all trying to outrun the past” is how the official synopsis describes the series. “As different as they are deadly, Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, and Faye Valentine form a scrappy, snarky crew ready to hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals — for the right price. But they can only kick and quip their way out of so many scuffles before their pasts finally catch up with them.”

Cowboy Bebop is a co-production between Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, with Michael Katleman and Alex Garcia Lopez directing all 10 episodes which wrapped its production in New Zealand last May. The live-action series will also include original anime composer Yoko Kanno, who is returning to create the soundtrack.
The original anime ran for just 26 episodes and one special in the late 1990s and later had a feature film, Cowboy Bebop: The Movie, released in 2001 and set during the series instead of serving as a follow-up.
