Netflix has debuted the first trailer for its upcoming young adult series Outer Banks from Caprica co-executive producer Jonas Pate, Moonlight consulting producer Josh Pate and novelist Shannon Burke following a group of teens who stumble upon a murder mystery and treasure hunt. Created and executive produced by the Pates and Burke, the YA drama, described as “Friday Night Lights meets Dawson’s Creek and Ozark,” follows a tight-knit group of local teens, known as the “Pogues,” in the beach destination of Outer Banks, North Carolina. When a hurricane kills the power for summer season, the friends begin a series of illicit events that leads to finding the boat of the ringleader’s missing father and clues for a high-stakes treasure hunt.
As the Pogues set off on the hunt, forbidden romances are forged and tension between the group and their rivals, as well as each other, escalate, turning the summer into one filled with mystery, adventure and love that they’ll never forget.
The show stars Chase Stokes as John B., Rudy Pankow as J.J., Jonathan Daviss as Pope, Madison Bailey as Kiara, Madelyn Cline as Sarah Cameron, Charles Esten as Ward Cameron, Austin North as Topper, and Drew Starkey as Rafe Cameron.
