Netflix has released the official trailer for their forthcoming sci-fi horror series adaptation of V-Wars, featuring Vampire Diaries alum Ian Somerhalder’s Dr. Luther Swann as he tries to stop his best friend’s plans of turning every human into a vampire. Based on best-selling author Jonathan Maberry’s comic series of the same name, the 10-episode series will be making its debut on December 5. Check out the video in the player below!

In V-Wars, Dr. Luther Swann enters a world of untold horror when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend, Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes), into a murderous predator who feeds on other humans. As the disease spreads and more people are transformed, society fractures into opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these “vampires.” Swann races against time to understand what’s happening, while Fayne rises to become the powerful underground leader of the vampires.
V-Wars will also star Adrian Holmes as Michael Fayne, Peter Outerbridge as Calix Niklos, Laura Vandervoort as Mila Dubov, and Kyle Breitkopf as Dez, Jacky Lai as Kaylee Vo and Kimberly-Sue Murray as Danika Dubov.
Ian Somerhalder is no stranger to the supernatural as he is best known for playing the role of Damon Salvatore in The CW’s The Vampire Diaries. He currently has a pod (production overall deal) with Warner Bros. Television through his Rare Bird Productions banner, a production company he and his wife Twilight alum Nikki Reed created.

V-Wars is executive produced by William Laurin and Glenn Davis, who are both serve as showrunners. Somerhalder and Maberry are set as executive producers along with Brad Turner, Eric Birnberg, Thomas Walden, James Gibb, Lydia Antonini, Matthew McCluggage, Paul Harb, and Ted Adams. The series is a co-production by High Park Entertainment and IDW Entertainment. Somerhalder and Brad Turner are also directing the series.
