According to Deadline, Deadpool actress Brianna Hildebrand has signed on to star in Netflix‘s upcoming 10-episode series adaptation of author Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith’s young adult novel Trinkets. In addition to Hildebrand, Kiana Madeira (The Flash) and Quintessa Swindell (Utopia) are also set to take lead roles.
Trinkets follows the story of three teenage girls from different corners of the high school cafeteria: Elodie, the grieving misfit; Moe, the mysterious outsider; and Tabitha the imperfect picture of perfection. They will find themselves in the same mandated Shoplifters Anonymous meeting, and will form an unlikely bond with each other. They will find strength in one another as they go through family issues, high school drama and the complicated dilemma of trying to fit in while longing to break out.
The cast includes Hildebrand as Elodie, Madeira as Moe and Swindell as Tabitha along with Larry Sullivan (Big Little Lies) as Doug, Brandon Butler (13 Reasons Why) as Brady, Odiseas Georgiadis as Noah, Henry Zaga as Luca, October Moore as Vicky and Larisa Oleynik (Mad Men) as Shawn.
Each episode will be half-hour long with Amy Andelson, Emily Meyer and Smith co-adapting Trinkets‘ screenplay. Linda Gase is set to be the series’ showrunner and will also serve as executive producer along with Andelson, Meyer and Smith. Shelley Zimmerman, Brin Luken and Rebecca Glashow will also be executive producers. Sara St. Onge has been tapped to direct the first two episodes.
Hildebrand is best known for her role as Negasonic Teenage Warhead in superhero films Deadpool and Deadpool 2 alongside Ryan Reynolds (6 Underground). Her film credits also include the romantic drama First Girl I Loved and the dark comedy film Tragedy Girls.
